What is GLOWFARI?
GLOWFARI is an illuminating night lantern festival at Oakland zoo. This light festival features larger than life sized animal lanterns throughout the zoo.
Every bit of the zoo is illuminated with interactive glowing lanterns ranging from ice capped Penguins to the African elephants. From Lions and giraffes to beautiful fluttering butterflies.
Biggest attraction at the GLOWFARI is the the beautifully lit gondolas which transports us to the Dinosaur land with life sized T- REX to Pterodactyls. Beautifully lit San Francisco and Oakland Skyline from the Gondolas is a treat to the eyes. Every seat is sanitized before entering Gondola.
When and Where?
GLOWFARI is held at the Oakland Zoo from November 20, 2020 to January 17, 2021.
Timings – 5:30PM to 10 PM
Reserving tickets in advance is mandatory. There is a separate link to book tickets for members of Oakland zoo and for non-members.
Entry Fee
Entry Fee to GLOWFARI as i am writing this article is as below:
$20 for Adults and $18 for Children aged between 2 to 14 and Senior adults aged between 65 to 75. Oakland zoo members get 10% discount.
Free for Children under 2 and senior adults over 76.
Travel Tips
- Wear warm comfortable clothes as it gets very cold.
- Carry strollers for kids.
- Wearing mask is mandatory.
- It is best to carry sanitizer.
- Music is played through out the zoo. If someone is sensitive to sound then carry noise cancellation head phone.
- Animals are not visible in night during GLOWFARI, so if you wish to see animals then plan a separate zoo visit during day time.
